SM CITY OLONGAPO IS NOW OPEN

By Publisher on December 24, 2011

SM City Olongapo has began serving the public by launching its upermarket, some food outlets and a pharmacy in a soft opening on December 15, 2011.

SM top executives led by SM Food Group President Herbert Sy, SM Supermarket-Savemore President Joey Mendoza, and Shopping Center Management President Annie Garcia were joined by Olongapo Mayor James “Bong”

Gordon, Jr. and his wife, former Zambales Vice Governor Anne Gordon in the inauguration ceremonies.

From January to the first week of December this year, during the SM construction and startup period, 2,623 applicants have already been hired by the SM group and its affiliates and concessionaires.

At least 45 companies that will operate in SM City Olongapo have already registered with the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office.

“We expect to generate 3,000 to 4,000 direct and indirect (jobs),” Garcia told reporters, confirming that the grand opening of SM City Olongapo is set for February next year.

She also assured the local business community that SM is ready to work with them and help them expand their market and business development opportunities.

“Many small businesses that started with us went nationwide because SM opens opportunities not only in the location where you are but also opportunities for your products and business (in SM outlets) in other locations,” Garcia added.

The Watson convenience store and Jollibee also opened their new branches at the ground floor.

“Wala po kaming holiday… at marami po kaming promotions na binibigay ngayon na tulad din ng ino-offer namin sa Manila,” said Gloria Cudala, SM EVP for Operations.

The SM Supermarket in Olongapo will extend daily operations until 12 midnight on December 20, 21, 22, 23 and on December 28 and 29, 2011.

“Sa pagbubukas ng SM Supermarket mas mapapadali ang pamimili ng lahat hindi lamang mga taga-Olongapo kundi kasama na rin ang mga bayan sa Zambales at Bataan, and tourists coming from Manila,” Mrs. Gordon said.
