SM City Olongapo Central and SM City Olongapo Downtown and the rest of SM malls across the country simultaneously held a flag-raising ceremonies in celebration of the 125th Independence Day. Participants wore the colors of the Philippine flag which signify truth, patriotism, and valor. The ceremony was followed by a short program featuring Filipino modern pop music.
At SM City Olongapo Central, the celebration was graced by Zambales Ist District representative Congressman Jay Khonghun, Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. City Councilors Lugie Lipumano-Garcia, Kaye Ann Legaspi, Rodel Cerezo and Vic Vic Magsaysay, with City Tourism Head Fifi Legaspi, Brgy. East Tapinac representatives and Olongapo Beauty title holders headed by Ms. Olongapo 2022, Binibining Zambales 2023 and Supermodel International Philippines 2023 Kristal “Tala” Dela Cruz joined by SM employees, affiliates, security personnel, agencies and shoppers. Students from Special Program for the Arts of Olongapo City National High School entertained guests by their impressive song and dance performances.
At SM City Olongapo Downtown, Olongapo Vice Mayor Aquilino “Jong” Cortez was among the special guests joined by City Councilors Ermelando “Ying” Anonat and Rodolfo Catologan together with Barangay Pagasa Chairman Edwin De Guzman, with performances from Pase Ballo and Pase Voci group of Gordon College.
