Central Luzon police logs 7 Holy Week fatalities

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) has recorded seven fatalities in Central Luzon during the Holy Week.
In a statement on Monday, PRO-3 said nine drowning incidents involving 12 individuals were logged across Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales during the Holy Week.
“Sadly, seven fatalities were confirmed,” it said.
PRO-3 also recorded three vehicular accidents in Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Bataan during the period, resulting in multiple injuries.
“Investigations are ongoing in all cases,” PRO-3 said.
Despite these incidents, PRO-3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the observance of Holy Week in the region had been “safe and solemn.”
“Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the public for their discipline and to our partners for their unwavering support,” she said. “Their collective effort ensured the safe and solemn commemoration of Holy Week in the region.”
Fajardo extended condolences to the families of the victims and reminded the public to remain vigilant, particularly during holiday travels and recreational activities near bodies of water.
“As we commend the peaceful observance of Semana Santa, we must also remind everyone that safety must never take a back seat —whether in prayer, on the road, or by the water,” she said.
PRO-3 reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public, especially as the region anticipates heightened tourist activity during the peak of the summer season. (PNA)
