DepEd Regional Directors Visit Kalalake National High School

OLONGAPO CITY – The Regional Monitoring team of English and Filipino Reading Programs visited the Kalalake National High School to assess and evaluate the reading program being implemented as part of the catch-up Friday – Drop Everything And Read (DEAR).
Pursuant to Memorandum No. 001, s. 2024, the DEAR program must be an integral component of the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP) where in the initiative aims to provide learners with the opportunity to engage in independent silent reading of their preferred material.
Catch-up Fridays is designed to strengthen the foundational, social and other relevant skills necessary to realize the intention of the basic education curriculum by focusing on the development of learners’ reading, critical thinking, analytical and writing skills.
Dr. Marie Anne Ligsay, Regional Education Program Supervisor of Filipino was accompanied by the Curriculum Implementation Division Chief, Dr. Eleonor Cayabyab and School Division Office of Olongapo Personnel- Public Schools District Supervisor Mrs. Corazon Dumlao.
Dr. Soledad E. Pozon, KNHS Principal IV, with the English and Filipino Head teachers with their respective reading coordinators, were pleased to present the accomplished programs and best practices that agree with the thrust of the of the department’s goal to bridge the learning gap.
