Quiapo church unveils new seal

The Basilica Minor of the Black Nazarene (Parish of San Juan Bautista), popularly known as Quiapo Church in Manila, has recently introduced its new seal.

In a social media post Monday, the basilica said the new stamp was inaugurated on June 15, the first day of novena Mass in honor of St. John the Baptist. “The definitions of the elements contained in the new ‘Parish Seal’. Each sign was given meaning to better understand and deepen our knowledge of our Church/Parish,” it added.

The new stamp has several symbols and colors which are significant to the basilica such as shield, cross, and golden crown of thorns among others. The colors are green, brown and maroon. At the same time, the Quiapo Church reminded the public that the unauthorized use of the said emblem is punishable by law. “Reminder to fellow devotees, the use of the emblem or stamp of the Basilica Minor Black Nazarene without the permission of the church or leadership is strictly prohibited according to RA (Republic Act) No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines),” it said.
