155 hired-on-the-spot in June 12 Job Fairs
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, June 13 (PIA) — A total of 155 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during the 2016 Independence Day Job Fairs in Central Luzon.
It represented a placement rate of 21.15 percent of 733 qualified applicants or 1.15 points above 20 percent target of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
“Most common filled-up occupations for HOTS include service crew, welder, and office staff for local employment while those for overseas include IT supports, admin, front desk, and operators, among others,” DOLE Regional Director Ana Dione said.
Nearly a thousand trooped the simultaneous employment fests that were held in Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan; Liwasang Bayan in San Felipe, Zambales; and Municipal Hall of Baler, Aurora.
“76 of the HOTS are from Zambales, 60 from Bulacan, and 19 from Aurora,” Dione added.
Meanwhile, DOLE Technical Support and Service Division for Employment and Welfare head Alejandro Inza Cruz said the HOTS are expected to add-up in days to come.
“We will be closely coordinating with our participating employers on our job fairs on our month-long monitoring and validation of near-hires or applicants subjected for further interview based on their submitted reports. We’re hopeful that they too will be hired,” Cruz said.
A similar Job Fair is slated today at the Rizal Triangle Multipurpose Court in Olongapo City and on June 30 at the Municipal Grounds of Concepcion, Tarlac. (PIA 3)
