OLONGAPO CITY – Twenty physically-challenged individuals were given the “gift of mobility” as they received the wheelchairs donated by the Subic Bay Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce (SBTCC) last February 27, 2012.

“We are very aware of the various social welfare activities being carried out by the city government. So, we wanted to join hands with you and also help the marginalized sector, especially the PWDs (persons with disabilities),” said SBTCC Executive Secretary Andy Liu.

“Malaking tulong ang wheelchairs na ito para sa PWDs at sa kanilang pamilya dahil  mas mapapadali ang kanilang pagkilos at  pagbalik sa normal na pamumuhay,” said Olongapo Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr.

The wheelchairs were given to Erlinda Genrao, Donna Avila, Lilibeth Lawas, Lucilee Carino, Teresita Hartsinck, Rita Jadolco, Arsenia Rabanes, Jenneth Lawaan, Crispina Mayo, Proferia Castillo, Sharon Vernal, Rommel Alviz, Nicanor Merino, Melecio Raguro, Jose Dionisio Jr., Avelino Malayo, Adoralyn Sabal, Eunice Huerto, Jerald de Vera and Gemma de Leon.

“I would like to thank SBTCC for this worthwhile endeavor. Considering the cost of wheelchairs today, not every PWD can afford this contraption,” said City Health Officer Dr. Arnildo Tamayo.
