AMERICAN personnel from the USNS John Ericson and representatives from Subic locator Aviation Concepts recently shared half a day of joy with orphans at the Center for Youth, Women and Social Welfare (CYWSW) as part of their Community Relations (COMREL) program.

Led by Captain Anthony Bourdouin, the USNS John Ericson personnel conducted repairs, painting and other refurbish works inside the CYWSW, in coordination with the City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO).

For its part, Aviation Concepts employees led by Lyn Habeck donated filing cabinets, office desks and chairs, clothing, bikes, a lawnmower and books for the children.

“This is only the beginning. I will request our Commander to allow our ship to visit your city more frequently,” Bourdouin said.

Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino welcomed the ship’s personnel and Aviation Concepts for their donations and “act of charity.”

“Nakatutuwa na marami talagang magaganda ang loob na tumutulong sa lungsod ngayon, napakalaking tulong yung mga bagong gamit para sa mga bata dito sa center gayundin ang pag repair ng mga sirang bahagi sa facility na ito,” Paulino said.

Mayor Paulino and a group of social workers rendered a surprise number by singing “If We Hold on Together,” to the delight of the guests.
