SM City Olongapo relief for Glenda victims
Typhoon ‘Glenda’ pounded Olongapo City and other areas in Zambales and Bataan with strong winds causing flooding and damage to properties.
In an effort to help reidents in the affected areas, SM Olongapo dispatched a team to bring relief goods to 1000 families in Orani and Dinalupihan, Bataan. In its nationwide relief efforts, SM has served thousands of families since typhoon Glenda entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Relief operations have begun with the distribution of relief goods to different provinces.
Mayor Gila Garcia of Dinalupihan & Vice Mayor Dr. Bong Galicia Jr. of Orani assisted the SM team in the distribution of relief goods, both thankful for the help of SM.
Meanwhile, a few hours before typhoon Glenda entered PAR, SM Olongapo offered its Carpark free of charge as a temporary shelter for vehicles.
Mayor Rolen Paulino extended his appreciation to the mall for doing such humanitarian efforts for the residents of Olongapo. One resident said, “with a strong typhoon coming in, I think its safe if we park our car in SM, libre pa ang overnight fee.” The three storey carpark have been filled up with cars during the onslaught of typhoon Glenda.
Despite the strong winds and torrential rains brought about by typhoon Glenda, SM stayed open for business to cater to the needs of the customers.(PR-SMOL)
