SM “Baryanihan “ project in ‘Gapo
We seldom experience giving away loose change to the cashier as donation. Little we know that these coins could go to the hands of deserving beneficiaries.
Through the money that were raised from “Baryanihan,” a project that enjoins shoppers to voluntarily donate their loose change for a community effort in the vicinity where SM Supermarket operates.
SM Supermarket has donated essential items to Asinan Elementary School that include water dispensers with PET bottles, TV flat screen, desk fans, basic sound system, cleaning materials and monoblock chairs. Free snacks were also distributed to all the students present during the turn-over ceremony on March 03, 2015 at Asinan Elementary School.
“Isa lang ang masasabi ko, napakalaking pasasalamat namin sa SM sa pagbibigay nila ng mga gamit na ito, super saya namin,” said Anita Abille, school principal.
The project “Baryanihan” comes from the words ‘barya’ (coins) and ‘bayanihan’ (the community spirit).
SM Supermarket, the largest supermarket chain in the Philippines rekindles the bayanihan tradition with the launch of a project that depicts the cooperative effort of helping out one’s neighbor.
SM Supermarket continues to give back to the communities and help those in need through “Baryanihan” with the support from its millions of shoppers.
