Olongapo bags 5 health awards from DOH

Olongapo City recently received five health awards from the Department of Health (DOH) for its massive health program.
Mayor Rolen Paulino and other city officials received the Measles Rubella Oral Polio Vaccine Mass Immunization Award for Central Luzon, Zero Malaria Case and, Zero Malaria Death and the Rabies Prevention and Control Program Excellence Award for program implementation,and the Health Excellence Award for HIV Program Implementation.
“All these awards came from the hard work of our health workers in the city, my role in this is to support them but they are the ones who are implementing it. and I laud them for a job well done.”
He added that the awards only show that the city is really serious in its health program and that even the Department of Health has taken nptoce already.
Recently the James L Gordon Memorial hospital beefed up its capability by replacing old medical equipment, new foam mattress, new equipment for its ICU, implementing the project smile and purchasing a new back up generator in preparation for the looming power crisis.
Project Smile, according to Paulino, is one of the cheapest upgrade any hospital can implement. “simple lang ang project smile namin, I told all our health workers to smile when dealing with patients because they are already uncomfortable with their respective conditions but when you smile at them it somehow uplift their spirits and makes them more relax.” He added.
No less than DOH Regional Director IV Dr. Leonita P. Gorgolon presented the awards to Mayor Paulino with City Health Officer Rodrick Bustamante and Hopsital Adminitrator Jewel Manuel as itnesses during the DOH Central Luzon Excellence Award held in Bulacan.
