SM Olongapo Jobs Fair

A total of 1,820 applicants queued at the 6th level of SM City Olongapo on May 01, 2015 to register for the Labor Day Jobs Fair. The event which celebrated the country’s 113th Labor Day dubbed “Disenteng Trabaho at Kabuhayan, Alay Natin sa Bayan” was a partnership between Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) , Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and SM City Olongapo.

From the total number of registered applicants, two hundred sixty seven (267) were hired on the spot (HOTS).

“May dalawang implications if we say tumaas ang number ng applicants, pwedeng dahil maraming nabigyan ng trabaho o mataas ang rate ng unemployment sa lugar,” said Reynante Lugtu, OIC-DOLE Zambales field office.

A total of 73 local and overseas companies participated including those in the Business Processing Outsourcing (BPOs), Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Retail, Services and Manufacturing industries.

SM Supermalls, being home to over 300,000 employees, continues to make efforts in providing jobs to the growing Filipino workforce. Other agencies such as the National Statistics Office (NSO), SSS, Philhealth, OWWA, and POEA joined the job fair for pre-employment requirements of the jobseekers. TESDA graduates and trainees, on the other hand offered massage service.

SM City Olongapo Assistant Mall Manager Engr. Bong Garcia and HR Manager Rodora Lo welcomed Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino and DOLE Provincial Officer Reynante Lugtu in the said event. (PR-SMOL)
