YSEALI Generation: Go NGO! is a four-day workshop funded by the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines in partnership with Cultural Vistas. It brings together non-profit leaders from all ten ASEAN nations to learn how to strengthen their organizations, craft their messages, broaden their support, and achieve greater impact. Combining training, simulations, and discussions with NGO leaders from around the region and the United States, the YSEALI Generation: Go NGO! workshop provides young ASEAN leaders with the tools to advance their NGO careers, build an regional network, and strengthen their civil society organizations in their home nations.
Launched in 2013, the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is the U.S. government’s signature program to strengthen leadership development and networking in Southeast Asia. Through a variety of programs and engagements, YSEALI seeks to build the leadership capabilities of youth in the region, strengthen ties between the United States and Southeast Asia, and nurture an ASEAN community of leaders who can work across borders to address common challenges.
The YSEALI Generation: Go NGO! workshop is one of several YSEALI regional workshops focused on the four YSEALI themes – the environment and natural resources management, economic development, civic engagement, and education. Upcoming YSEALI regional programs include workshops on eco-entrepreneurship (Brunei, February 2017), environmental conservation (Coron, Palawan, March 2017), and urban planning and smart growth (Singapore, May 2017). Information on how to join YSEALI can be found at http://yseali.state.gov.
