CDC recovers 64 hectares from informal settlers
CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) was able to recover some 64 hectares from informal settlers inside the Freeport.
In a report submitted by the Estate Preservation and Recovery Division (EPRD), the land recovery in 2016 resulted in an amicable negotiation with the informal settlers at no cost to CDC.
The EPRD report stated that 19 hectares of government property at the so-called Pastolan area near Mabalacat City were recovered wherein 15 houses were illegally constructed on the CDC-CIAC-BCDA common property.
Some 40 hectares at the north side of Jose Abad Santos Highway and another five hectares at the Prince Balagtas Street northward of the Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway were likewise recovered. The CDC has also conducted demolition operations on illegal stalls, shanties, transport terminals and various structures at the site of transport depot, Clark Veteran’s Cemetery, the East Perimeter Fence in Barangays Mabiga and Lakandula in Mabalacat City.
To ensure that illegal settlers will not return or have structures erected, the EPRD continuously monitors previously-cleared areas in coordination with barangay officials.
The EPRD also oversees an ongoing survey to identify alleged ‘owners’ of large parcels of government property in sub-zone area, or the Clark Special Economic Zone. (PNA)
