THAI NAVY SHIPS IN GOODWILL VISIT TO SUBIC

SUBIC BAY – Two ships of the Royal Thai Navy arrived here this afternoon on a five-day “goodwill visit.”
The Frigate HTMS Taksin (FFG-422) and HTMS Krabi (OPV-551), an Offshore Patrol Vessel, carry a total of some 400 officers and servicemen, who are also expected to give a boost to the local tourism industry.
“While visits by military ships like this sustain bilateral relations among partner-nations and enhance confidence-building programs between allied armed forces, they also provide impetus for the SBMA to further develop its facilities as a world-class center for maritime operations, both for commercial and military purposes,”
Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Chairman & Administrator said in a statement. “The SBMA is always ready and willing to be of service in pursuit of regional cooperation, peace and security, and the promotion of the Philippines as an active partner in these endeavors,” Eisma added.
Read Admiral Poowiang, who is head of mission, and the commanding officers of the two Royal Thai Navy ships will be paying a courtesy call to the commander of the Naval Education, Training and Doctrine Command in Zambales, while their crew will be engaged in reciprocal reception and friendly games with Philippine Navy counterparts.###
