Many city residents were abuzz on social media tonight over the power outages that followed a day-long scheduled city-wide “maintenance activities.” As of 10pm, many parts of Olongapo remained powerless beyond the 8am-6pm time frame earlier announced. Power distributor OEDC said the 6:40pm “emergency” power outage in some areas in Bgy. East Tapinac was caused by an “electrocuted bird.” As if it wasn’t enough, at 9:17pm, Bgys. Barretto, Kalaklan, portions of Mabayuan, East Tapinac (again), New Kalalake, Pag,Asa, New Asinan, portions of East & West Bajac-Bajac, Sta. Rita (except Dominguet st.) and portions of Old Cabalan also went dark. OEDC is currently addressing the situation, line crews have been sent out in the field to conduct inspections to determine the cause, among others. SubicBayNews photo by Vic V. Vizcocho, Jr
