Keppel Philippines Marine, Inc. Chairman Nelson Yeo (w/ glasses) and Jose Luis Oquinena, executive director, Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation (left), greet newly-wed couple Jerwin and Analyn Resaba, who were married on the same day their families were awarded housing units at the Keppel – GK Eco Village in Bauan, Batangas over the weekend.

Bauan Mayor Ryanh M. Dolor also graced the occasion.

To date, 40 families have already been awarded housing units while the final 20 is expected to be completed on May.

Aside from funding the project, Keppel’s officers and employees also rendered thousands of man-hours working in the construction, along with the beneficiaries, themselves, and other local and foreign volunteers.

Yeo said Bauan town is special to Keppel because it is where the company had its first ever shipyard outside of Singapore. Today, the company already operates shipyards not only in Asia but all over the world.

Keppel intends to replicate the project in other places where it operates, including Subic, where it also has a shipyard. SBN/vvv
