Scholarship Applications for SY 2012-2013 Now Accepted

Olongapo First Lady and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Director Anne Marie Gordon is inviting all needy and deserving students to avail of the city scholarship programs. Anne Gordon, a known advocate of women and children’s welfare has always been at the forefront of Mayor James “Bong” Gordon’s education, health and social services programs. From 2005- 2012, a total of 9,989 students in the elementary, high school and college levels benefitted from the city scholarship program.

“Ang kahirapan ay hindi dapat maging hadlang sa pagtupad ng pangarap ng mga kabataang Olongapeño; kung tutuusin, ito pa nga ang dapat maging inspirasyon nila upang makamit ang isang magandang buhay,” Director Gordon said. “Kaya naman patuloy nating susuportahan ang mga estudyanteng gustong makatapos ng pag-aaral dahil ang edukasyon ang susi sa kahirapan,” Gordon added.

Education is one of the top priorities of Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. in his HELPS program. HELPS stands for Health, Housing, Environment, Education, Labor, Livelihood, Peace and Order, Social Welfare and Sports.

To qualify for the scholarship program, applicants should submit the following requirements:-Letter of intent addressed to Mayor Gordon (original and photocopy);-Fully accomplished application form with recent 2×2 picture;-Photocopy of report card with general average;For old scholars, photocopy of city scholarship certification;-Photocopy of voter’s ID or voter’s registration of parents/guardian;For college students, photocopy of transcript of records for transferees, photocopy of exam results at Gordon College for incoming freshmen & transferees and photocopy of 2011 Income Tax Return (ITR) or certificate of non-filing of income of parents of guardian.

Scholarship application forms may be obtained at the City Mayor’s Office at the 2nd Floor of Olongapo City Hall. Deadline of submission is on May 31, 2012.
