P695,000 worth of illegal firecrackers seized in CL
Illegal firecrackers worth P695,000 have been confiscated by the Philippine National Police – Police Regional Office 3 (PNP-PRO3) as revelers across Central Luzon welcomed the New Year.
The police closed down two stores in Bocaue, Bulacan for selling prohibited firecrackers.
Regional Director Police Superintendent Edgardo Ladao said 36 persons were arrested because of violation of Republic Act 7183, an act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.
Among the confiscated firecrackers include Goodbye Philippines, Giant Plapla, Giant Lolo, Giant Bawang, Bin Laden, Kwiton Bomb, Kabasi and Piccolo.
Ten persons were reportedly injured because of the prohibited use of firecrackers. Most of the victims were from Bulacan province, said Ladao. As per National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council data, Central Luzon ranked third among the region with most fireworks-related injuries in the country with 97.
Metro Manila has the highest number of it with 214, followed by Ilocos region with 126. (CLJD/JGB-PIA 3)
