The Lighthouse Marina Resort, in cooperation with Casa San Miguel, welcomed 2014 with the “Operation: H.O.P.E. New Year’s Eve Countdown” last December 31, 2013 at The Lighthouse beachfront in Subic Bay, Zambales.

One of the highlights was a musical performance from renowned violinist Coke Bolipata of San Antonio, Zambales and the Pundaquit Virtuosi of an original composition entitled, “Deluge,” dedicated to the victims of Yolanda, arranged and directed by Marc Tan, a graduate of UP College of Music and also Manager of the Lighthouse Marina Resort.

The initial fundraising activity will benefit Yolanda Typhoon Victims through a long-term rehabilitation and rebuilding program that aims to spread HOPE (Helping Others Progress and Excel). It involves creating an eco-friendly resettlement to encourage communities to come together and also engage in green living.

Each family will be have the opportunity to rebuild their lives at a more suitable area compared to cramped tent cities like the ones in Manila. It requires very little skill to assemble and the village may serve as a tourism destination that will be an added livelihood to the refugees.

Before the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve, Lighthouse Chairman Clyde Chua turned-over the P50 K collective donation of Lighthouse Employees for the project. He was joined by the first beneficiary of this project, the Espino Family together with veteran actress Cherry Pie Picache, who also contributed Php32,000 in addition to the proceeds from ticket sales and a number of individuals who provided their services for the success of the event.

“This project will not only help the victims of typhoon Yolanda and prepare a disaster management plan but at the same time encourage people to recognize that the root of this problem is also related to the way humans have exploited the planet. Its long term vision is designed to make Zambales develop a disaster program to be able to assist the country in times of calamities due to its strategic location.

Subic Bay is one of the best former US Naval Bases, equipped with fully functional state-of-the-art airport and one of the ideal seaports in the country,”explained Zedrik Avecilla, Sales and Marketing Manager of The Lighthouse Marina Resort.
