MADE IN KEPPEL SUBIC SHIPYARD

MADE IN KEPPEL SUBIC SHIPYARD. The $756 M substructure and self-installing platform, the first-ever completely made in the Philippines, is towed out of Keppel Subic Shipyard in Subic, Zambales, after two years of meticulous construction that generated over 2,000 jobs. When installed at the Malampaya Deep Water Gas-to-Power Project, which began operations in 2001 some 80 kms. off northern Palawan province, the platform will enable production to be maintained at levels enough to sustain the operations of three (3) natural gas-fed power plants that supply about half of Luzon’s power requirements. Malampaya, a joint undertaking of the Philippine Government thru the Dept. of Energy (DOE) and private partners that include Shell Philippines Exploration (SPEx) and Chevron has generated close to P200 B in royalties for the Philippines.
