Olongapo is Most-PWD-friendly City in Region 3

Olongapo is the 2013 most PWD-Friendly City for the second year in a row, this was revealed during the recent observance of the International Day of Persons With Disabilities of the Central Luzon Federation of Persons with Disability (CLFPWD) in Angeles City, Pampanga.
According to Jun Pascua, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office which supervises the Person with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), the award was given in recognition of the efforts of the local government to address the PWD’s special needs.
He added that ordinances, programs, legislation, service and other activities made Olongapo City excel over other cities in Central Luzon when it comes to taking care of PWD residents.
Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino congratulated PDAO for the win and added that it only shows that Olongapo is working hard to improve the lives of residents with special needs.
Registered PWDs in the City are given services, which include Dental Checkup, Workshops and Seminars and other activities.
The city also received a Certificate of Appreciation as Finalist to the 2013 2nd RCDA Awards for the Persons With Disability in Friendly Localities, Organizations, Community Projects, and Leaders during the event.
Architect Luz Mangonon – Casipong, a PWD working for the engineering department also received a Leadership Award.
