The deployment is part of the 31st MEU’s regularly scheduled spring deployment to the Asia-Pacific region. The MEU will conduct amphibious integration training with their Navy counterparts before travelling to participate in several exercises with partner nations in the region, to include Cobra Gold and Ssang Yong.

As the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is prepared to conduct a wide range of military operations, from humanitarian assistance missions to limited combat operations, at a moment’s notice. As a balanced air-ground-logistics team, the 31st MEU is able to respond throughout the Asia-Pacific region. (31st MEU Public Affairs Office)
