USS Bremerton visits Subic Bay

The giant Philippine flag of the Subic Bay Freeport serves as a backdrop of the US Submarine USS Bremerton and submarine tender USS Emory S. Land at Alava Pier on Monday, 31 December 2012.

USS Bremerton (SSN 698), a submarine of the Los Angeles class design, arrived in Subic Bay on Saturday, December 29, for a routine port call that highlights the strong historic, community, and military connections between the United States and the Republic of the Philippines.

The visit allowed the ship to replenish supplies as well as give the crew an opportunity for rest and relaxation.

The USS Bremerton SSN 698 is named in honor of the city of Bremerton, Washington, home to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and a city with a long association with the U.S. Navy.

She is the tenth ship of the Los Angeles class design. Her keel was laid in Connecticut in May 1976. (U.S. EMBASSY)
