VFW to hold 21st annual Beach Bash

Barrio Barretto, Olongapo City – US Veterans of Foreign Wars  (VFW) will hold its 21st annual Beach Bash at Driftwood Beach in Barretto from February 6 to10.

According to Beach Bash Chairman,  Jerry Rowe, they have moved its location this year to allow for more of their neighbors access to the 3-days of fun and frolics.

The annual event raises funds to support the many charities of the local veterans’ organization.  It is spearheaded by Post Commander, Mr. Dennis Doty. Mr. Doty noted that the local VFW supports several student scholarships, medical and  dental outreach programs, aids for many families and widows of veterans who  choose to live here, as well as other programs to aid their friends and neighbors.

Several stage events, including a Battle of the Bands, Talent & Variety contests, Miss & Little Miss Beach Bash events and well known local bands are slated to perform.

A parade, featuring bands, marching units, floats, students and dignitaries will wend its way throughout the Barrio Saturday morning.

Also featured at the weekend event will be several booths offering wares from Olongapo City, SBMA and Barrio entities, as well as several veterans organizations. “We will have a booth where anyone can have their blood pressure checked, manned by medical personnel, who will be available to interpret the results,” said Rowe.

This event is free to all visitors so come along and enjoy the fun!!
