Wounded Olongapo Cop gets Commendation from City

Olongapo City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino gives a certificate of commendation to PO2 Arnie Omega who was shot in the face during an operation against illegal drugs in the city. Also in photo is Police Inspector Nasser Abdurasul of the Olongapo City Police Office.

Olongapo Mayor Rolen Paulino, on behalf of the city, gave recognition to a police officer who was shot in the face during a drug operation which resulted to the confiscation of illegal drugs and death of the two (2) suspects last month.

Paulino recognized the bravery of PO2 Arnie Omega of the Olongapo City Police office who survived despite the seriousness of his injury.

Omega was wounded in action after a car chase that ended at the Olongapo City Public Market resulted to a shootout. Also confiscatedfrom the suspects was caliber .22 pistol and a grenade.

“With all the issue about extra judicial killing, here is an officer from Olongapo city who almost lost his life to the war against illegal drugs.” Paulino said.

“His contribution to Olongapo has no monetary value, for me he is a hero, he risked his life to help free our city from illegal drugs,” Paulino said, “and the commendation is not enough compared to what he has done,

The local government shouldered most of the medical expenses of Omega while the PNP region 3 gave the police officer additional P200,000 for other expenses.
