IBA, Zambales — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built two school buildings at Balaybay Resettlement Elementary School (BRES) in Castillejos, Zambales.
Completed infrastructures include a two-storey with eight classrooms and a two-storey with six classrooms.
DPWH Zambales 2nd District Engineer Rosbe Dizon said the projects were completed on time despite construction challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It addresses the school’s need for additional learning spaces that can accommodate a growing student population.
β€œStudents and teachers will now have a safer and more spacious study spaces as the new school buildings are ready for use now that face-to-face classes have resumed,” Dizon stated.
Each building is equipped with separate toilets for boys, girls, and those with physical disabilities; storage room; generator set; two water pumps; two sets of water tanks; and one cistern tank.
BRES Principal Editha Sebastian expressed her gratitude for the new school buildings.
β€œStudents will no longer endure the shifting schedule system brought about by the lack of available classrooms,” she said.
The projects have a combined allocation of P65.99 million funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act as part of the convergence program of DPWH with Department of Education. (PIA3)
