More development plans for Zambales – Ebdane

STATE OF THE PROVINCE ADDRESS: Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. urges government officials and residents to support his vision for the sustainable development of Zambales during his State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Friday at the Capitol grounds in Iba, Zambales.

IBA, Zambales — Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. has said that his administration is bent on developing more projects and programs to develop both the physical and social infrastructure that will usher in more progress and welfare for the province of Zambales.

In his fourth State of the Province Address (SOPA) held at the People’s Park here, Ebdane unveiled his vision for the sustainable development of the province by making use of its vast resources, local manpower skills, and the synergy of a united community.

“I have focused my leadership in the past few years on projects and programs that would not only liberate the province from the bondage of poverty, but also provide our people with opportunities for self-reliance,” Ebdane said.

“While we have encountered challenges and difficulties along the way, we are now poised for even greater achievements as long as we work together,” he added.

Ebdane said that after making strides in health, agriculture and fisheries, livelihood and industry, infrastructure development, tourism, as well as education, culture and sports, the provincial government will focus on “bringing efficient and effective public service closer to the people.”

Among the projects the Zambales government has set its eyes on are the construction of a Senior Citizens Ward at the provincial hospital; construction of a convention center to complement the sport and tourism programs of the province; and the establishment of a 3-storey Legislative Building to house the offices of the provincial council.

Ebdane also said that the provincial government will formulate a program to develop local culture and support local artists and talents; provide scholarship and leadership training to capable but needy youth; and implement a province-wide cleanliness and beautification program to improve the image of the province.

The governor also emphasized the need to provide an education geared towards the manpower requirements of the province.

“Given our vast land area and rich natural resources, we need to develop professionals who will eventually manage our mining, agriculture, aquatic and marine resources, as well as tourism and other related industry,” Ebdane said.

Ebdane also stressed to government employees the need to further enhance the effective delivery of government service.

“True public service involves active involvement, dialogue, and interaction. Our constituents must feel that they have a voice that must be heard, ideas that must be supported, and solutions that need to be executed. Let us make them feel that they are part of our government,” Ebdane also said.
