SM Olongapo Joins International Coastal Cleanup 2015

SM Olongapo is keeping its commitment to promote and support the International Coastal Cleanup by joining the activity in Kalaklan Lighthouse, Olongapo City .

SM affiliates , tenants, agencies and employees engaged in this noble activity to help eliminate trash and debris from beaches and waterways that contribute to pollution.

Just like the OC-ICC (Ocean Conservancy-International Coastal Cleanup), SM Supermalls share the same advocacy through the SM Cares program on Environment and Volunteerism which works actively to safeguard our natural ecosystems, provide information and educate the public on various environmental concerns and encourage the community members to do their share to preserve mother nature.

Volunteer organizations, patrons of SM Olongapo, LGU representatives, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Philippine Coast Guard, PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection, business groups,17 Barangays, BSP and GSP of the Phils. Olongapo chapter, students and teachers participated in the Coastal Cleanup.

On record, more than 26,000 Olongapo volunteers participated in the Cleanup.

According to Ocean Conservancy report, over the last 25 years, the organization has been bringing together passionate ocean lovers and helping them contribute to a vision for trash free seas. They mobilize the International Coastal Clean-Up-the world’s largest volunteer effort to clean up waterways and the ocean.

This annual activity empowers people to stop the flow of trash before it hits the ocean. SM Supermalls constantly support this kind of activity and adhere to one common purpose, to start a trash free seas.(PR-SMOL)
