DOJ CONDUCTS JUVENILE JUSTICE AND CHILD PROTECTION WORKSHOP
Olongapo Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. reaffirmed the city government’s full support for programs that promote the welfare of children and their protection from various forms of abuse.
Gordon addressed the opening of the consultation and workshop on the Protocols on Case Management of Child Victims of Abuse and Exploitation and on Comprehensive Program for Child Protection conducted by the Department of Justice’s Committee for the Special Protection of Children (SCPC) and the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC).
“Responsibilidad nating mga nakatatanda na unawain at isulong ang mga karapatan at pangangailangan ng mga bata at responsibilidad ng pamahalaang ipatupad ang mga batas at kaukulang programa para pangalagaan sila at mapalaki sila nang wasto at mahubog upang maging modelong mamamayan at susunod na mga lider ng lipunan,” Gordon said.
The city government sent four social workers and four barangay tanods to the three-day consultation workshop at the Bayfront Hotel in Subic Bay Freeport, which is designed to guide all concerned government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders on the Protocols as standards to ensure the protection of the rights of child victims of abuse, neglect and exploitation.
SCPC’s Protocols highlight the roles and responsibilities of government agencies and their partners, from reporting and or referral of a child abuse case until its closure, ensuring that the child victims are dealt with in a most child-sensitive and appropriate manner.
