SBMA, Sanctuario de San Roque hold blessing of motorcycles, helmets in Subic Freeport


Subic Bay Freeport – The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and the Sanctuario de San Roque held a Blessing of the Helmets and Road Safety Advocacy at the San Roque Chapel inside this Freeport Zone on April 18, 2026.
Some 30 riders took part in the Holy Mass celebrated by San Roque Chaplain Father Noel Montes, followed by the Road Safety Seminar and the Blessing of the Helmets and Motorcycles.
The Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) provided the safety seminar for the riders and organized the Blessing of the Helmets and Road Safety Advocacy.
According to Rotary Club of Metro Olongapo President Derrick Manuel, the idea came from Sanctuario De San Roque Lectors, Commentators and Psalmists Guild (LCPG) Vice President Babylyn Sagum-Enad during her visit to Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, where she witnessed the “Blessing of the Helmets.”
Manuel said that Sagum-Enad wanted to initiate the “Blessing of the Helmets” here at the San Roque Chapel, sharing it with the Rotary Club and San Roque Chaplain Fr. Montes with the help of the concerned agencies, the said event came into fruition.
Manuel expressed his gratitude to the SBMA, LTO, and other stakeholders who made this event successful. He added that another “Blessing of the Helmets” will be held soon, making the event a staple of the San Roque Chapel.
