Update: Briton is 7th fatality in Olongapo fire
SEVEN (7) people died in this small hotel along the national highway at Bgy. Barretto, Olongapo City in a fire incident at dawn on Friday.
Investigators initially reported 6 dead, 3 Americans, a Korean and 2 Filipino women but discovered that the charred body of one of the 6 was actually that of a British national named Malcolm Curtis.
However, several hours after the fire was put out, another body of a Filipino woman who remains unidentified was recovered inside a cabinet among the ruins.
The fatalities earlier identified include Patrick Burth, Joshue Daluso and James Brigatti, all U.S. citizens, Kyung Ook Kim, a Korean, and Rebecca “Jesicca” Perez, a Filipino national.
Investigators suspect that the hotel’s fire escapes were locked trapping the victims inside the building.
