MINOR SURRENDERS TO GAPO MAYOR AFTER ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

OLONGAPO CITY– A 12-year-old boy was arrested after attempting to rob an apartment early morning Friday at Gallagher St., in Barangay East Tapinac, Olongapo City.  Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino supervised the arrest after receiving a phone call from Lloyd Carpio, who was occupying the Apartment B at no 53 Gallagher St. of the said barangay.

Paulino together with police operatives from Station 3 headed by Police Inspector Mar Ravelo arrested Angelo (not his real name) after a one-hour standoff.  “Pinakiusapan naman natin ng maigi yung bata, kaya kusa naman siyang lumabas ng apartment at sumuko sa atin at sa pulis,” Paulino said.  “Seryoso tayo sa kampanya natin laban sa krimen kaya nga miski gabi personal akong nag iikot para magbantay din,” he added.

Police however was unsure if the suspect was a member of the notorious akyat bahay gang.  The suspect was turned over to the center for youth for assessment and evaluation.
