America’s Iconic Motorcycle Brand Now in the Philippines
ICONIC U.S. company, Indian Motorcycle, has launched its first shop in the Philippines recently. U.S. Embassy Manila’s Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Michael S. Klecheski welcomed the guests and delivered the opening remarks.
In his speech, CDA Klecheski said, “Indian Motorcycle is an example of what U.S.-made products are known for globally – superior, resilient, and innovative. I am sure that a lot of riders are excited to welcome Indian Motorcycle and are very eager to experience it. It is always fun to ride an Indian and I am sure it will be more fun to do so in the Philippines.”
Guests enjoyed the American barbeque-themed launch party set against an impressive backdrop display of Indian Motorcycle bikes.
Indian Motorcycle is America’s first motorcycle company, founded in 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts. During World War I, Indian Motorcycle dedicated much of its production to the war effort by providing the U.S. military with nearly 50,000 motorcycles. During World War II, Indian Motorcycle produced Model 841 for the U.S. Army.
In 2011, Polaris Industries acquired Indian Motorcycle. Manufacturing was relocated to the Polaris production facility in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and engineering was moved primarily to the Polaris Product Development Center in Wyoming, Minnesota. In the Philippines, T.A. Marketing exclusively distributes Indian Motorcycles products. (usembassy/manila)
