BIR RR No. 4 eyes P26.9B in 2015
Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region No. 4, which covers six out of the seven provinces of Central Luzon, is eyeing P26.9 billion in revenue collection for 2015.
“That goal is spread out in our 10 revenue district offices (RDOs) in Tarlac City; Paniqui town, Tarlac; Olongapo City; Subic Bay Freeport; Bataan; North Pampanga; South Pampanga; Aurora; North Nueva Ecija; and South Nueva Ecija. Pampanga RDOs alone is expected to deliver half of that target,” BIR OIC-Regional Director Condrado Lee said in an interview during Friday’s launch of the Regional Tax Campaign, which carries the brand “Angat Pa, Pinas”
Among the strategies BIR RR4 would implement to attain the goal include reinvigorating the Oplan Kandado, regionalizing the Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) Program, intensifying promotion on utilization of the eFiling and Payment System (eFPS) and eForms Registration, and prioritizing investigation of non-conformists.
It shall likewise strengthen its Register-File-Pay information campaign, and work on the post evaluation of Computerized Accounting System and strict implementation of Computer Assisted Audit Tool Systems and summary remedies on delinquent accounts.
In 2014, BIR RR4 was able to meet its P20.78 billion target due a number of innovative programs such as a centralized management team that monitors delinquent tax payers and opening of e-lounges, where clients can utilize the eFPS and eForms Registration, in the RDOs of South Pampanga (City of San Fernando), and Olongapo City.
Moreover, Civil Service Commission conferred its Citizen’s Satisfaction Center Seal of Excellence Award to the RDOs of North Nueva Ecija (Talavera town) and South Pampanga (Angeles City) for their efficient frontline services.
Meanwhile, Lee called on Central Luzon residents to file their income tax returns correctly and ahead of the deadline.
“Paying taxes is an obligation of every working Filipino. Come April 15, the annual income tax return filing is for self-employed, individuals earning purely compensation income, professionals, estates, trusts, businesses, corporations, and partnerships,” he stressed.
“Tax is the life-blood of the government. It is being utilized by the state to build roads, bridges, hospitals and school buildings, provide basic social services to the populace, and implement programs on climate change adaptation and mitigation,” the official added.
The “Angat Pa, Pinas” advocacy under the public awareness campaign program is part of the Revenue Administration Reform Project being implemented by BIR with the support of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Millennium Challenge Account-Philippines.
This year’s campaign logo takes cues from the colors of the Philippine flag, using imagery of arrows that show an upward movement to denote greater progress and positive change for the country.
The campaign jingle is anthemic, providing a battle cry for Filipinos to work for a better tomorrow. (PIA 3)
