Carolling Cheers for PWDs

There are many ways to enjoy singing Christmas Carols, one of which is going somewhere a bit warmer, like a Shopping Centre, organise a traditional Carol Service in your barangay or just as SM employees did recently: conduct a Carolling cheers to Persons with Disability (PWDs) in the different barangays in Olongapo. A unique way of bringing joy to people through Carol Singing.

A total of 130 Persons with Disability benefitted from the Carolling cheers and Noche Buena packages from SM. It can be recalled that SM Supermalls has launched the Merry SM Christmas 2015 campaign this October. The campaign shares with shoppers the “gift-ing” idea that aims to turn the tradition of giving and receiving more meaningful.

One of the warmest memories of the activity was when one of the PWDs cried while receiving her bag of Noche Buena package.

Going from barangay to another with the volunteers, singing as they went inside the barangay hall gave the recipients a feeling of importance. In some barangays, the PWDs were not capable of reaching the second floor to receive their gifts, but they appreciated the brief visit.

“Salamat sa SM, naalala nyo kami,” one PWD commented.

“Alam nyo po kanina pa sila nag aantay ng pagdating nyo, excited na silang tanggapin ang regalong galing sa SM,” said Mabayuan barangay chairman Dionisio Vinoya.(PR-SMOL)
