DSWD Distributes 23,000 Food Packs to Habagat Victims

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has distributed around 23,000 food packs to families displaced due to severe flooding bought by the southwest monsoon in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, and Pampanga.

“13,000 of these packs came here in our office while the remaining 10,000 came from our Central Office,” DSWD Regional Director Adelina Apostol disclosed.

Each pack contains six canned goods, one powdered milk, four pieces of 3-in-1 coffee, sugar, and three kilos of rice.

“We are also distributing non-food items such as blankets, clothes, and mat in evacuation centers,” Apostol added.

Per latest data, the Tropical Storm Maring-enhanced Habagat in Central Luzon affected around 152,757 families or 713,288 persons.

Around 130 evacuation centers are currently open as of 5PM serving as temporary shelter to 3,071 families or 12,827 persons. (CLJD/JGB-PIA 3)
