SBMA Chair AliΓ±o emphasizes the vision of a Greenport for Subic Bay in his first State of the Freeport Address (SOFA)

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT β Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Engr. Eduardo Jose L. AliΓ±o delivered a powerful and forward-looking State of the Freeport Address (SOFA) at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC), where he unveiled record-breaking achievements and transformative plans aimed at establishing Subic as the countryβs first carbon-neutral economic zone.
AliΓ±o reported that SBMA achieved an all-time high in operating revenue for the third consecutive year, breaching the β±4-billion mark in 2024 with a total of β±4.109 billion. The Freeport also posted a remarkable 504% increase in committed investments, totaling β±20.6 billion, alongside a 171% growth in committed employment, resulting in the creation of over 6,466 jobs.
Among the major projects highlighted were the Subic Bay Cruise Ship Terminal, a nearly β±10-billion initiative; the expansion of housing and dormitory facilities to accommodate workers; and Subicβs recent honor as the βMost Sustainable Investment Hub in the Philippinesβ at the 2024 World Business Outlook Awards.
In alignment with global sustainability goals, SBMA is rolling out several green initiatives. These include the shore power project, which aims to reduce ship emissions by up to 95%, as well as the introduction of electric buses and solar energy programs.
