SBMA Employees Form Association, Gets RVG Nod
Regular employees of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Autority (SBMA) have organized themselves into an association to better facilitate communication and understanding with the govt. agency’s management.
Dubbed as SBMA Employees Association (SEA), the first set of officers, led by President Ted Peñaflor, were recently sworn into office by Olongapo Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Richard Paradeza.
SBMA Chairman & Administrator Roberto V. Garcia, Deputy Administrator (DA) for Legal Affairs Randy Escolango and lawyer Lilia Elizabeth H. Escusa, SBMA Human Resources Dept. manager witnessed the simple oath-taking at the Justice Hall of Olongapo City.
Garcia said he favors the forming of labor associations and unions because “it will simplify the flow of communication and will enhance understanding between the employees and management.”
He said labor groups, if focused on employees’ concerns and not distracted by political and personal motives, can be management’s partner in enhancing productivity while advancing employees’ welfare.
SBMA has some 3,000 regular and contractual employees.
Under Garcia’s stewardship for the past three (3) years, SBMA has recorded unprecedented 9 digit annual income, a far cry from the annual billion-peso bleeder it used to be since the agency was formed in 1992.
This year, SBMA is again poised to break its 2013 record of P2.1 B gross revenue, 3rd quarter statistics released by the SBMA show. (VVV)
