Zambales grants P2M to Tesda

IBA, Zambales — Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Zambales recently passed a resolution granting P2 million to Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) for the construction of a multi-purpose building within the compound of the Provincial Training Center in Iba town.

The facility, which is expected to rise in 2013, will be used in delivering technology-based training and livelihood courses for cash-strapped Zambaleños.

”The cash grant is part of Governor Hermogenes Ebdane’s priority projects for 2012 under his 20 percent development fund.

Once completed, it will dramatically increase our training absorptive capacity especially in community-based training which spells good news to our kababayans who are eager to acquire skills for jobs or livelihood,” Tesda-Zambales Provincial Director Elizabeth Manio said.

Tesda will manage the facility and submit reports to the office of the governor.  Manio added “The donation comes on the heels of the Zambales Provincial board approval of a P500,000 grant last June for the training of tech-voc facilitators. This financial grant clearly speaks volume of the provincial government’s recognition and trust on technical education and skills development to curb unemployment and reduce poverty.” (CLJD with reports from Tesda/PIA)
