SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – At least five young men who stole electrical cables & wires and other items on Friday night from the unoccupied SBMA-owned building of the former Legenda Hotel, went about their business undisturbed by SBMA law-enforcers present who exerted no effort to apprehend them but simply watched as if watching a movie in a theatre.
Subic Bay News was able to document the incident, which had SBMA Law Enforcement Dept. (LED) head Gen. (ret.) Orlando Maddela fuming mad at his men upon learning of the incident.
Maddela said he has ordered an investigation and more appropriate actions will be taken.

Wot are we paying for in the SBFZ area. There are guards @ every entry point how are these people able to stay in side the area with out ID’s. I guess they not wearing suits going this job so i would expect all SBMA officers to challenge any people that look as if they not belong. They can stop & ask me any time wot i am doing. At least i would feel a bit safe here walking around.
Well surprise, surprise! Each time I enter Kalayaan to visit friends my ID is requested. I’m a foreign woman on the wrong side of sixty. What am I going to do? Rob houses? Rape small children? Taunt the monkeys perhaps? While I realise that the system must be seen to be equatable, this incident just shows who the real culprits are!
